This working group is exploring the design of several separators to be used as major instruments for nuclear structure and nuclear reaction studies with re-accelerated rare isotope beams from RIA at energies E/A~10 MeV/nucleon (more specifically, from the Coulomb barrier to ~12-15 MeV/nucleon). The list of separators under consideration includes: a recoil mass spectrometer ( e.g. FMA, EMMA, RMS type), a gas-filled device ( e.g. BGS, RITU, SASSYER type), an RF-driven separator (RESOLUT type), and a large acceptance spectrograph ( e.g. VAMOS, PRISMA, MAGNEX type).
Subgroups are working on each of these devices. Primary contact information is provided below. Preliminary design information will be posted, as it becomes available, in the corresponding web pages also given below.
If you are interested in doing RIA research using any of these instruments and you wish to contribute to their design and specifications, please join this working group. You may want to contact directly the members of the corresponding subgroups or send a note to George Souliotis at: soulioti@comp.tamu.edu.
